Old Songs I Wrote From college

As many of you are well aware, I’ve been writing stories, articles, and song lyrics for years now. None of it has been published, however.

As I was showing Shauna my pictures this past weekend, I came across a few things I did in the past. Although it’s unlikely any of these will go beyond where they’re at, it’s handy to show the progression I made in my lyric writing, as well as the mental state of my time when they were writtned, back when I was going to Rock Valley College. Although they have no dates on them, it is assumed they were written between 1997 – 2001. Read the rest of this post »

Expect Something near the end of August…

I haven’t had much time or use of this blog as of late, aand I can’t promise much yet.  I am debating on what I will do with this, as much of my stuff now resides on MySpace.  Keep your eyes peeled – If I don’t kill it, you will know by the end of August what will be going on here.

Purge the Darkness

This one will definitely be used for a future project. It’s in the veins of Limp Bizkit’s “Build a Bridge,” Alice in Chain’s “Down in a Hole”, and Aerosmith’s “Dream On.” It was a dark and moody song idea, and although it doesn’t fit what I was writing this for, it does fit another project I am working on. Hope you like it.

This was originally published on the MySpace blog on August 17th, 2006 at 4:16 A.M. Central Time. The text has been cleaned up and modified from the original posting.

You guys are getting this three days before it goes up anywhere else, so enjoy it.

I’ve been writing lyrics to some music for some time, and I have been working some lyrics specifically for the book. However, some of this stuff just does not fit into the book at all, and would have no other outlet.

Most of the lyrics I write are done in a rap sense – I can alter stuff later, after i get some background music, if I wish. It’s more the idea that I am trying to convey through lyric that is important.

This song’s idea came from a combination of thinking about my father and watching The news early Sunday Morning while at the Stockholm in waiting for my grandfather and sister to show up for breakfast. The idea was that, in many ways, the view I have of my father’s side of the family, and how I feel about him in particular, is that he has always been my terrorist, waiting until success is within reach to come out and say the truth. To me, it’s always been a war.

Must have been something about that damn news channel – LOL.

Sometimes you just need to deicde where things are going. I am getting to the point where my creative endeavors are getting ready to bear some fruit. Since I won’t be getting my main site up anytime soon, here’s my dropping point for my creative stuff.

On this site, you will find the following:

  • Original Fiction that currently has no plans on being printed or published outside of a PDF format, or is a work-in-progress.
  • Tie-In Fiction that goes along with current projects being prepped for print. Some of this stuff may also become available in the printed editions.
  • Fan Fiction which is almost always guaranteed not to be published unless otherwise asked for by the original creators. (All fanfiction pages will have official copyright protection, although I will not be asking for permission – basically, an acknowledgement of who owns the original copyright.)
  • Lyrics to songs I may be working on. Although I don’t do live shows or produce/create music yet, I oftentimes write lyrics to music that I may use in another project later, or may not be able to use in any of my projects at this time.
  • Poetry, although very rare for me to do, may also come up on this site.

In addition, news about my works in progress that I plan to publish, either as short story in magazines that accept them, or as books through either online or traditional stores. If something is published, you will not find it here, unless it was here first. You won’t find any of my ramblings, musings, opinions, or non-fiction stuff here either – that’s for my main blog.Although this site won’t be updtaed as often as my main site is, the stuff you get here should as fun, if not more fun, than my main site.
